Skin Cancer Awareness Month: Susan's Story

For years, Susan Posnick has made beauty simple for you through her healthy and unique formulas. And part of that's been by combining your favorite cosmetics and sun protection. Why? Diagnosed with melanoma in 1998, early detection possibly saved Susan's life and the experience changed her life. Susan has since made it her goal to educate and protect through her products. 

Think it's only sun seekers that are at risk? Susan says she never really tanned, but didn't make sunscreen a priority whenever she was outside. So discovering a tiny red spot -- as small as a pinhead -- on her forehead was a surprise. 

"It has become my passion to educate men, women and children about skin cancer and to make it easy to apply healthy sun protection that isn't greasy and doesn't sweat off," she says. What are her personal tips for sun protection? "I always COLORFLO and/or BRUSH ON BLOCK on my face, neck, hands--anywhere that is exposed to the sun and I usually wear a hat as well."

    II have a scar on my right cheek from a large mole removed when I was three years old. It was itchy and the bumpy red part bled when scratched. Turns out it was Basal Cell Carcinoma.

    , time of day and hats are both helpful.I made my own ssecurenn last year using a combination of oils like coconut & sesame w/ natural spf's. I did add regular zinc oxide (not nano) bc we were going to the beach and thought we would need the extra protection. It was so easy and worked wonderfully for the first time in my life of beach vacations my skin was not dried out or peely. I will always make my own ssecurenn now.What have you read about zinc oxide? Not the nano-size, but regular zinc oxide? I would love to hear what you know. Thanks!
