Meryl Streep, known for her award winning performances
as strong, powerful women, has done it again
with her up-coming performance as
80s British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in ‘The Iron Lady.’

Streep has already achieved the award
of best actress from the New York Film Critics Circle Award
for the role even though the movie has not been released yet.

Already a two-time Academy Award winner,
Streep is the frontrunner for another Academy Award in 2012.

Streep made her professional on screen debut back in 1977
and has built an amazing career on stage, television and the big screen.

She won Academy Awards for her performances in ‘Kramer vs. Kramer’ and ‘Sophie’s Choice’
and has been nominated for 16 Oscars through her career so far.

Streep is considered one of the most talented and respected actress of the contemporary era,
starring in the more recent movies,
‘The Devil Wears Prada’, ‘Julie&Julia’ and ‘Mamma Mia’.

Streep is very focused on her family and once said,

"Every single decision I make about what material I do,
what I'm putting out in the world,
is because of my children."
She has four children with Sculptor Don Gummer, whom she married back in 1978.

Catch Streep in ‘The Iron Lady’ in late December.
