An Ode To...
The last few days have been full of tributes for the life of Dame Elizabeth Taylor. While many celebrity deaths gather a large amount of media attention, it is rarely so deserved as for the life of Elizabeth Taylor. With her sad passing, the world is left to remember a beautiful woman who offered a soft strength to the world, both through her legendary performances and active involvement supporting HIV/AIDS.
This British born beauty came to California as a young child where she was quickly signed into stardom.
Elizabeth grew up before the eyes of the world. She naturally transitioned from her sweet roles as a child actress to a smouldering star of the big screen.
Though her personal life was full of broken dreams and promises, evidenced through her eight failed marriages, Elizabeth Taylor always remained a constant light in Hollywood.
Elizabeth Taylor was the first celebrity to bring HIV/AIDS into the spotlight. She pushed the issue into attention when most of the world was content to ignore it.
Elizabeth cleverly harnessed the media attention she once resented to bring attention to this initiative,
and eventually, her plan worked. Elizabeth Taylor's raised over $270 million dollars towards AIDS during her lifetime.
"I hope with all of my heart that in some way I have made a difference in the lives of people with AIDS.
I want that to be my legacy. Better that than the mole on my cheek."
