Tips & Tricks
Eyebrows are a facial feature that often get the short end of the stick when it comes to beauty maintenance. Many women underestimate what a huge impact the eyebrows contribute to the overall look of ones face. The difference a well groomed pair of brows contributes to the face is truly remarkable. There have been so many times that I have not been feeling great about my appearance and with a quick trip to see Shazia (my threading lady), I feel like a new and polished woman.
So what is threading? Threading is an ancient Middle Eastern/ Asian practice that started thousands of years ago. The exact origins are still unknown, but this remarkable craft has been passed down from generation to generation. A simple cotton thread is twisted into a lasso-like form and one end is place in the threader’s mouth and the other in her hand. The client places one hand on her eyelid and the other on her brow to stretch the skin. The threader then places the lasso on the eyebrow and is able to pluck a full and straight line of hairs with immaculate precision.
The first few times are a little painful, but the long-term effects are way better than waxing. The skin

on the brow does not get burned as often happens with waxing, and the hair follicle is not clogged with waxe. Threading allows us fine-tuning in how you truly want your brow to look, and often times gives a fuller, more high fashion look. Threading is usually cheaper than waxing as well, with the average salon charging $4-$12.
For those of you who suffer from sensitive skin, here are some secrets to make your next eyebrow appointment a little more tolerable:
*30 minutes before your appointment, rub Oragel on your brows to numb them
*Ice sometimes helps with the numbing
*Take an anti-inflammatory prior to your appointment
*Don’t book your appointment close to your time of the month, as that is when your skin is the most sensitive
*Be vocal with whoever is doing your eyebrows, so that you are comfortable
Instead of going in for an eye-lift or your next Botox session, trying getting your eyebrows threaded, it will take years off your look!
