Nail Art: A Must or Making Beauty Complicated?

Looks & How-tos
Zooey Deschanel recently tweeted this nautical manicure.
Jewel encrusted. Color-block. Art deco inspired. These may sound like a season of runway trends, but they're actually fashion for your fingers. Celebs from Rihanna to Lauren Conrad are nail art regulars, wearing anything from delicately painted objects to funky stickers with their manicures.
The word art is included in its name for a reason -- you can find thousands of intricate designs and their how-to's online. There are Tumblr pages, websites, and Youtube videos just for nail art worshipers. And there's no doubt those on Pinterest have seen one of the hundreds of boards dedicated to inspiration examples.
Low-maintenance? Then nail art might not be your idea of beauty time well spent. Though it's all for fun, is it too complicated? We'll let you be the judge. Would you, or do you, try nail art? Or does it seem more like a guilty-pleasure hobby?
But we do have one DIY the minimalist and nail art addict could agree on. Choose your favorite clear nail top coat and glitter nail polish (in any color you like). Lightly paint the top of your nails with the glitter, lessening the sparkle as you make your way down. Top it off with the top coat and you've got yourself ombre-like nail art and beauty made simple.
