Friday Faces
She's gone from Disney teen queen to budding actress and singer, and been benevolent along the way. Our Friday Face this week is Selena Gomez. You might know her for her longtime armcandy (Justin Bieber, sound familiar?) but don't write her off just yet. The triple threat has starred in Disney Channel's The Wizards of Waverly Place, recorded three albums with her band, Selena Gomez and the Scene, and is now focusing on film (she'll be in Hotel Transylvania with Adam Sandler this fall).
With a resume like that, how does Gomez stay so down-to-earth? She fits some serious philanthropy in her schedule. She was recently named the Charity Ambassador for the
Ryan Seacrest Foundation, that builds media centers for children in hospitals. She's also been an ambassador for the
United Nations Children's Fund since she was 18, having traveled to Chile and Ghana to work with some of their programs, and puts on benefit concerts for UNICEF annually.
"I'm very blessed to have a lot of fans and basically my goal is to use my voice to educate them on all these things,"
Gomez told CNN. And we're all blessed to have such a great role model.
