As the holiday season arrives, many of you will be traveling to visit family and friends in places all around the world. Use our fool-proof packing guide to help keep your travels smooth.

LIGHTEN UP. Regardless of how much you think you will need three outfit choices a day, you won’t. Only pack as much is necessary. Keep your hand luggage to a minimum, too. There's nothing worse than dragging a heavy bag on and off a plane. We love this London Fog Satchel for a classic carry-on piece.

HIT THE BOTTLE. Filter your liquid cosmetics into small plastic bottles to save on space and by doing this you also open up the opportunity to take all your luggage as carry-on. Sephora Travel Collection, $18.

MIND THE GAP. It's likely that your holiday travels will involve gits & sale shopping.  This guarantees frustration for the return journey.  Make sure to leave extra room in your bags on the journey there to accommodate the new loot you'll have in tow when later.

FRESH FACED. Great for removing make-up, cleaning your hands or just refreshing yourself after the journey. Cleansing wipes are a must for any traveler. Ulta Wipes, $5.99.

WRAP IT UP.  Security personnel may want to look at presents you are taking to family so don’t wrap them until you get there. Last thing you need is the security officer unwrapping all your hard work.

CHICK LIT. Stash a guilty-pleasure read, because there is no better use of three hours without access to internet browsing. A Jane Austen Education, Target. $29.

Collinsonia root, also known as Stone Root, is one of the most effective edmreies I've found. You can take it as a tea, in capsules or in liquid extract. When I had an herb store, I recommended it to a Carnie and she was so pleased with the results she sold it for me all over the U.S. to all her truck-driving friends. As I'm sure you know, it also helps to increase insoluable fiber intake, drink lots of water and get some body movement going with walking or similar exercise.
